7. Cookies

Our website uses cookies - small text files placed on your device - to help us improve your experience and understand how the site is used.

Cookies we use:

Essential cookies - required for the website to function correctly (e.g. form submissions, session management). These do not require consent.
Analytics cookies - placed by Google Analytics to collect anonymised data about how visitors use the site, including pages visited, time spent, and traffic sources. These cookies are set only with your consent.

You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling non-essential cookies will not affect the core functionality of our website.

Analytics cookies

This section was updated on 29 October 2026. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful, so we can improve this website, and LeadConnector, the GoHighLevel system where we keep enquiries, to see which pages led to an enquiry. Both run only if you choose Allow on the cookie notice. Until then, or if you choose No thanks, neither is loaded and no analytics cookie is set.

If you allow it, Google Analytics records the pages you view, how you arrived (for example from a search engine), your type of device and browser, your approximate location (town or city) and whether you sent an enquiry. It does not record your name or contact details, and Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. Google signals and advertising features are switched off, and detailed event data is kept for two months.

If you allow it, LeadConnector records the pages you view, the page that linked you to us, your browser and how long you spend on each page, so we can see which pages led to an enquiry. Whichever you choose, the details you send through our enquiry forms go to our enquiry records in GoHighLevel.

The cookies they set:

_ga - tells one visitor apart from another. It expires after two years.
_ga_VYY3G5S5XM - keeps track of the current visit. It expires after two years.
lc_session_tk_a70cee6ac5864bebbff0ff7fb5de7292 - LeadConnector's record of the current visit. It expires after one day.

You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. Choosing No thanks deletes these cookies. Your choice is kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, so we do not ask on every page. We ask again after six months.

The map at the foot of each page is embedded from Google Maps, and Google may set its own cookies when it loads.

Google explains how it uses information from websites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

8. How long we keep your data

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected:

Enquiry data - retained for up to 24 months from your last interaction, unless your enquiry leads to a contract.
Customer data - retained for up to 6 years after completion of work, in line with HMRC requirements and limitation periods for contractual claims.
Marketing data - retained until you withdraw consent or unsubscribe.
Analytics data - Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months before being automatically deleted.

9. Your rights

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), you have the following rights:

Access - request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification - ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Erasure - ask us to delete your personal data where there is no compelling reason for us to continue processing it.
Restriction - ask us to suspend the processing of your data in certain circumstances.
Portability - request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
Objection - object to the processing of your data where we are relying on legitimate interest as the lawful basis.
Withdraw consent - where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, please email us at info@electricalexchange.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

10. Data security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered, or disclosed. We limit access to your personal data to those who have a genuine business need to access it.

11. Third-party links

Our website may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins, and applications. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
